history
A family estate located in Verdigny, in the heart of the Sancerre appellation, Domaine Daniel Reverdy & Fils cultivates 9.3 hectares of vines with passion and respect for tradition. Passed down through generations, the domain combines ancestral know-how and sustainable vineyard management to craft wines that express the purity of the terroir. The Clos de Chaudenay parcel, situated just behind the cellar, embodies this philosophy through its unique clay-limestone soil (Terres Blanches).
Vineyard
Crafted from 50-year-old Pinot Noir vines, the P’tit Luce cuvée captures the distinct character and elegance of the Sancerre terroir. The vineyard is planted at a density of 6,500 vines per hectare across a mosaic of renowned soils blending caillottes (stony limestone) and terres blanches (calcareous-clay marl). This exceptional geological pairing imparts vibrancy, mineral finesse, and depth to the fruit. With yields strictly mastered at 45 hl/ha, the berries achieve optimal aromatic purity and natural balance.
Winemaking
Harvested mechanically, the grapes undergo a 72-hour cold pre-fermentation maceration to delicately extract color and fresh red fruit aromas. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out with an extended 3-week skin contact maceration to develop fine, silky tannins and velvety texture. The wine is then aged for 1 year in oak barrels, imparting complexity and suppleness while honoring the grape's natural elegance. Bone-dry with, balanced by a vibrant acidity and 12.5% ABV, this limited release consists of only 1,650 bottles.
Tasting notes
Elegant and vibrant on the attack, supported by silky, well-integrated tannins. The mid-palate reveals fresh red fruit layered with a refined mineral tension typical of caillottes and terres blanches. The finish is long, crisp, and delicately spiced.
Food pairing
Meats & Poultry: Roasted duck breast (magret), pan-seared guinea fowl, roast veal, or pork tenderloin with a light jus. Fish: Seared salmon fillet or tuna steak with a light red wine reduction. Cheese: Local goat cheeses, particularly slightly aged Crottin de Chavignol.
